Meet our Principal

I am Dr. Deana Porretta, and I am deeply honored and enthusiastic to assume the role of Principal at CCMS. My vision for our school is rooted in collective effort, creating a learning environment that makes our students, their families, staff, and the entire community proud. Our success isn't just about individual efforts; it's the combined dedication and commitment of our entire team that truly makes CCMS great.

My professional background is enriched by diverse experiences, including seven years of service as an Army Sergeant and many years as a military spouse. As a native of Fallon and a proud graduate of CCHS, my family and I returned to this community in 2018 following my spouse's retirement from the Army. When I'm not at school, you'll often find me camping, staying active outdoors, tending to my garden, or getting lost in a good science fiction book.

Professionally, I've spent 15 years in education, teaching everything from PE to Math and even first grade! I've had the chance to work in schools all over the world, from South Korea to Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. This has given me a lot of different ideas about how to best support our students. I'm really looking forward to welcoming all of our students, families, staff, and everyone involved in our school back to 650 South Maine St. We're going to build a school where our students thrive and where our staff feels truly supported.

My immediate goals for this year include refreshing our school's mission and vision, working to make sure fewer students miss school, and providing support for our staff as they create exciting learning spaces that will really boost our students' skills in both reading (ELA) and math. I know that one of the biggest challenges will be to change how people see our middle school, so that every student, staff member, and family is incredibly proud to be at CCMS.

I want you all to know that I believe in doing things with integrity and efficiency. I promise to always be approachable and to listen with an open mind. While I'll stick to my core values, my ultimate commitment is always to do what's best for our students, while also strongly supporting our staff. Together, we can create the best possible learning environment for everyone.
